[video] ok now that I've wrote a monster

Let's start with your new compadres. [He turns his gear to Lady B, and she rises up to paw at the air with her hooves. He walks over to her, rubbing her nose as she settles down.] They're called Pokemon and we're in the region of Johto. The other region is Kanto - can be reached by train (expensive) or by ferry (really cheap).

Pokemon are the whole center of society here and also what you use to defend yourself and travel be. I could ride Lady B here. Or. [He whistles and Snoop the Dragonite slips into the frame.] Fly with Snoop.

Travel time is cut depending on what you do with the fastest being flying. But if you're a training certain things are unavailable until you battle gym leaders. You first is Falkner, with his flying types. If you beat him - fire, rock, electric and anything not weak to flying can do it, you get a badge which let's you use fly outside of battle. Trainers (look on the card you got) need these to use hm moves - I'll get into that in a sec.

The gear device has a lot of niffy features which includes a map.

Anyway Hms and tms. [He whips out one tm and one hm.] Short of hidden machine and technical machine. The first, reuseable and the stuff that you need badges to use. The second are one shots but you can pass the moves on to other pokemon via breeding them. Lady B can't learn rock smash, but she can learn a lot of other things.

Type advantages are a good basic rule of thumb, as you get stronger and your buds evolve or learn more you can throw that away and focus on what they can do and can be taught. It's expensive to boost their weakest areas like speed, etc but once you've got the cash? It's a good idea.

The balls like this, [He produces a pokeball from his bag using it to snag Dragonite back in.] are how you catch others to keep and use. (Not as horrible as it sounds, ok) but don't just catch things willy nilly, you can only keep fifty six.
